Healthy Home Fellowships must begin with God’s leading and a desire to reach those that don’t know Jesus. People cannot see God until they experience love.
It is in the context of small groups that new believers open up about their lives and learn to pray with others for the first time
Home Fellowships should get together at least once a week to maintain a sense of connectedness. Again, though, we must emphasise the importance of flexibility.
Ideally there shouldn’t be less than about 10 people in a group.
Jesus ministered in the context of a small group of disciples.
Ideally one does not want to prescribe any components, but rather have groups form their own culture.
Realistically there are however assistance required in the initial phase and these Home Fellowships could typically include (as much as possible natural flowing):
· Having a meal together
· Worship (guitar, keyboard or just playing worship music or videos)
· Pray in tongues (naturally flowing)
· Pray for each other
The characteristics of a Home Fellowship:
· Keep it natural in a personal, homely environment
· People must come together, interact & enjoy it
· It must be small enough for intimacy
· Informal & sociable atmosphere
· Free flow of the Spirit
· Natural working of the gifts through those present
· Every member actively involved ~ do not put people on the spot. Let them develop
at own pace and participate as they’re ready.
Acts 2 : 46-47 'Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved'
Every group should have the goal to grow and form another group after a certain time. It could be by dividing or identifying a few people in a specific area and go help them to get started. Existing leaders must make themselves available to go assist start-ups when required.
Accountability groups help each member submit every part of life to God’s will. It acts as a safeguard against dangerous paths by bringing into the open each member’s behavior
Our aim is to create a safe environment where people can establish trust relationships to be transparent and accountable. Without transparency, it is not possible to help each other and without the willingness of someone to help themselves and commit to others, it is not sustainable. Accountability groups have a very specific dynamic in order for it to yield the required result. We encourage small groups between 3 to 5 people to form WhatsApp groups and share with each other what they want to overcome or improve on or just interact and uplift. It builds strong friendships as men and women of God become vulnerable with one another, pray and encourage each other.
